‘The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
Exodus 33:14 NIV

Today’s verse is short and simple. The promises and peace that these words hold are the brief, beautiful definition of the Lord and His character.

Look at these two promises:

He will be with us wherever we go, and He will give us rest.

Looking at that first promise, we can see that whether it’s a physical or an emotional destination, the Lord is with us in all circumstances. I like to look at the times where physically I might be exactly where I wanted to be but my emotional state is not where I want or need it to be. Maybe I’m hanging out with friends, but this past week has been full of hard news and overwhelming situations. The Lord is in both that happy physical circumstance but also the tired, overwhelmed mental circumstance.

Looking at the second promise, we can rest in the knowledge that in wherever we are, the Lord is with us and He bears His yoke of peace.

‘“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30 NIV

Friends, this week and school year will not overcome you. You have the Lord of peace on your side and He is walking with you.
