The other day I was told something that changed my perspective: God doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies the called.

Many people in the Bible—and in real life—who have been called by God are not why we might consider “qualified” to do the job. At least, not the person who they used to be before they were called. 

Look at Paul (who used to be Saul). The guy used to kill Christians—until he himself became one and then urged them to grow in their faith.

Paul is used so often as examples in the Christian faith—and for good reason! His life was flipped upside down and now his words still resonate in Christians today, changing their lives for the better.

Or look at Rahab. She was a prostitute—a woman whose body was used for things that God was strongly against. But God isn’t against the person, He’s against the sin. So He called Rahab and qualified her to be a servant of the Lord Most High.

So you might not think you’re qualified, and that’s okay! Because you’re actually not. You can’t be qualified without God’s help and qualification. But God is going to call you and He is going to qualify you to do amazing things.

“Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭1‬:‭26‬-‭29‬ ‭NIV‬‬

In 2 Timothy we can read that the servants of the Lord are fully equipped for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16-17) so that we can serve the Lord and grow the kingdom in every way.

As we go about this week, let’s consider the ways that we can live out our lives for the Lord and use what we have—use what we have been equipped with.
