Safe to say, this month has been one for the books.

Okay so actually, it hasn’t really, but I just wanted to say that.

Anyways, we’ve done a lot this month so let’s dive right in!

What did I do?

First, my brother, cousin, and I saw the movie we’ve all been talking about this month.

Let the record show, I am 100% JOKING. Please do not come after me. 🫣

In all seriousness, we saw Project Hail Mary and it was awesome—made me cry, I loved it, Ryan Gosling was perfection, and also I saw this meme about it:

Before we saw the movie, we got sweetFrog, coffee, and then walked around the mall and downtown because we had three hours to kill.

On April 16th we celebrated Huck’s ninth (ninth?! Ninth) birthday and then a few days later, one of my best friends, Apple, visited for a week!

That was mostly it for what I did in the month of April. Now onto the book highlights.

What did I read?

This month has been quite successful in what I’ve read, I’m proud to say.

I’m currently in the middle of The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel. On our move from Washington to North Carolina, I watched the movie on Angel Studios and oh my word, that was so good. I finally picked up the book last week and it’s been my ‘late theological book that is fascinating yet utterly confusing’ and I’m loving it.

I also reread (more like re-skimmed, it’s a THICK book) The Anxious Generation by Jonathon Haidt. Too good, it’s just too good.

I’m also currently reading John Mark Comer’s Practicing The Way—fantastic, I’m learning so much.

And then I have a beautiful (very tall) stack of books that I’m reading (all very thick books) that I’m reading in the hopes of someday publishing a four-piece blog series that I’ve been ‘working on’ for the past year. (It’s hard, guys, I’m not kidding.)

No fiction this month, unfortunately. But I’d rather read these books than…Twilight, maybe.

What did I listen to?

Okay well, this month has been a good month (a GOOD month) for music-listeners (hopefully of which you are).

Okay so aside from both of these two amazing albums, what have I listened to?! (And also side note: I think they should do a collab. Is that just me? Or could it be absolutely stunning?)

Apple actually sent me a song that is quite fitting for where I live and that is the song which shall kick off the ‘top ten’ list:

So this month has been…diverse. But mostly just Noah Kahan and Ella Langley. (In the kitchen at work, she’s all I hear playing on the back of house’s phones and I love it.)

What did I write?

Like I said in my last recap post, I haven’t written much. It’s been a busy time (what with Apple distracting me and all). However, I’ve been working on a blog post (not the series I mentioned above) that I’m excited for! Hopefully nobody’s gonna hate me for it, but we’ll see. I expect it to come out in maybe one or two more weeks (maybe three if I’m really scared) as I’m currently running it through my amazing YDubs editors.

I’ve also been working with Skillful Pen Press on their street for their newest anthology! Check out this post for more info.

And then: another exciting anthology update! I’m being published in a third anthology which I shall not disclose information for because ✨it’s not time✨ but I will say this: the books have been printed, soon to be sent to the authors (hint: one is me) and then…we’re doing a giveaway. If you’re looking for a devotional that will encourage and inspire teens and youth, then this is the right one for you! What happens next?

Well, on May 1st I am going to prom (or technically, by the time this post comes out, I’ve already gone) with a friend which is going to be so fun! I’m driving three hours to their house (Noah and Ella, get ready to be played for all three of those hours) and I’ll include pictures in May’s recap post. On May 5th I’m going to a KB concert with my brother and cousin, and trust—there’s going to be a lot of pictures from that as well.

Not much else happens in the month of May, mostly finishing up school and some classes before the south attacks us with its’ heat.
