So often I find myself wondering: when can I get into the world to share the love of God and how can I make it happen faster?

But often I am reminded—maybe by the Lord or Scripture, maybe by people around me, and maybe by my own experiences—that my first priority place of ministry is where I am today.

My workplace, my home, my relationships, and in my everyday life, with the people I meet on the street.

You shouldn’t have to procrastinate your mission just because you aren’t spending a year in a rural town where nobody speaks your language. That kind of work is a blessing and very much needed, yes—however:

If you feel like you need to go somewhere else to share the love of God, then your mission needs to be reworked.

The love of God is applicable to all who have ears to hear, and most of those people are likely right in your circle—in your class, at your job, on your team, whatever!

You are simply the messenger for whatever message God has for the people around you, and if it is His will, then He will touch their hearts. You don’t have to go all around the world!

Feeling stuck in the simple life you live isn’t bad, but it makes it easy to miss out on what the Lord has in store for us.

Blessed interactions with strangers. Invitations accepted by friends. Prayers spoken over peers.

You are right where you are supposed to be to spread the love and share the Gospel. The Lord blesses us with the gifts and talents that we need to be equipped for His works.

‘Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.’
1 Peter 4:9-10 NIV

As we step into this week, I encourage you (I’m encouraging myself too) to, in some way, find where God is calling you to serve in your community. This doesn’t have to solely be volunteering (although that is amazing and works great!) but maybe taking a friend out to coffee to just hang out.

People are Jesus’ mission, and He wants them to be your mission too.
