This is a repost of Sunday Encouragement Week 21—at the moment I’m on the road and didn’t have a Sunday post planned out, but I hope you all find encouragement from this post!

The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”’
Exodus 14:14 NIV
Often I feel as if I need to work hard to prevent what comes my way. Whether it be a relationship that’s struggling or an upcoming change or just a crappy day, I feel like it’s something I have to fight by myself. Either no one will help me, or I’m too proud or afraid to ask, or I just want to do it by myself.
But most of the time, I’m scared that no one will help me. Maybe you feel the same way?
This is a big problem with our generation—and not just our generation, but the world! We put on a mask that says, “I can do this by myself.”
Y’all, some things you can handle by yourself, and other things you can’t. Let’s just admit it, right?
So what are some things that you can’t handle alone? Maybe it’s a break up, or depression, or a big change. Maybe you just hate life! And that’s okay, right?
But these things, we aren’t meant to fight them by ourselves. Going back to my older post, Bearing Burdens, we can’t handle it alone!
And that’s where people come in. A really awesome Bible verse in Exodus chapter 14 says this: “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”‘ (God was speaking through Moses.)
At the time, the Israelites were trapped between the Red Sea and an army of Egyptians. (The Egyptians were trying to kill them because the Israelites had escaped captivity and slavery.) The Israelites were terrified—either way they were going to die. They weren’t fighters, these were weak people who had been living in the desert for the past few days.
They had no hope.
But God told Moses to tell the Israelites (a little game of Telephone—so that’s where it must have originated from!), “I will fight for you. You just need to be still.”
We don’t need to prepare offerings or fast or pull out our hair to get God’s attention. In all honesty, we just gotta say, “Hey, can you help me with this?” He’ll help—but it might not be in the way you wanted.
But He will help.
And so will your friends and family if you ask them! So don’t be afraid to ask for help—you’ve got this!
I hope this was encouraging, hope you guys have a great day!
