The other day I was playing with my little brother Huck (he’s eight) and helping him find the ‘baby Jesus’ that I had somewhere in my bedroom. If you don’t know what said ‘baby Jesus’ is, it is this:

Some versions have “Jesus Loves You” on the sash and sometimes the sash is a different color, but they all look pretty much the same. (And we have three—or rather, had three. Radley ate two I think.)

While my brother and I were looking for this missing dude, my brother tells me, all matter-of-fact:

“We’re looking for baby Jesus. He’s the invincible guy.”

Yeah, He certainly is ‘the invincible guy.’ (Not to be confused with the invisible guy—we’ve gotten those words mixed up a little—although that is also true, I suppose.)

But there’s something quite comforting to hear, “He’s the invincible guy,” out of a kid’s mouth. Maybe it is the connection to a ‘child-like faith’ (Mark 10:13-16) or maybe simply the confidence in Huck’s voice—he didn’t have a doubt about what he was saying.

When my brother said this, I found peace knowing that Jesus is, in fact, The Invincible Guy. (All-caps required, by the way.)

With Him, we find peace in the storms, safety in the fires, and guidance in the desert.

The Lord began with forming you in the very beginning, He has redeemed you, He has called you by name, and He is still with you and protecting you.
