Everybody has had to make a hard decision, right? Even though you knew it was the right one, it still hurt your heart and made you sad.
But it’s okay to be sad after making the right decision.
Mourning the loss of a relationship or a dream career or a possibility isn’t bad, it’s not ‘silly,’ it’s not ‘unrealistic.’ It’s human, and you are human.
David writes in Psalm 34: The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. (Psalm 34:18 NIV)
When we are brokenhearted, we are given time to rest and to heal—and this means that even after you’ve made the right decision, it’s okay to be sad.
People are hard, friends are hard, loving is hard, and it often feels like there are consequences to having relationships. But I find so much peace in knowing this: we are blessed with these relationships and with the chance to love. Some people don’t have the chance to experience real, good love in their friendships.
And so I am so blessed to know that God has given me people who make saying goodbye so hard.
Making the right decision isn’t just the hardest part—it’s leading up to it, the contemplation, the actual decision, and the aftermath. With all of that pain, you need to rest. You need to heal. And you need to know that your feelings are valid and okay.
Friend, I know that it’s so hard making these right decisions, but I hope and pray that soon you will see why it was the right decision.
I hope this was encouraging, thanks for reading. 🤎🙃
