Love is closing the blinds when the clouds remind you of thunder.
Love is convincing you that dropping an ornament does not mean you ‘ruined Christmas.’
Love is letting you wake me up early in the morning to greet me with a smile.
Love is driving to look at the holiday inflatables at Home Depot.
Love is listening to (Ghost) Riders In The Sky four times in the car even though you’re the only one who wants to listen to it.
Love is a cup of ice at a restaurant because that’s all you eat.
Love is jumping on the trampoline at seven in the morning when the grass is wet.

* * *

Love is coming down to earth with a whole world in mind.
Love is caring for the hurt, the deaf, the limping, the blind.
Love is in the form of a child crying in the cold,
And in return for love is myrrh, frankincense, and gold.

Love is choosing to be mocked over comfort
Love is letting others spit and letting yourself be hurt.
Love is not a trait for the faint
And you proved this: from the cradle to the grave.

More often than not, love proves to be not just an action.
It’s a simple knowledge: love is.
It doesn’t have to be loud or have many witnesses.
Love just is—it exists and it acts and it shows.
