When was the last time someone hated you?
Sometimes it’s very clear when someone hates us, right? Sometimes it’s very subtle—dangerously subtle to the point where you think you’re but they do not feel the same way. Neither of them are a good feeling!
When you feel hated, it’s a demoralizing and disqualifying feeling. You think that, because somebody doesn’t like you, you’re not worthy of anyone else liking you.
There’s no reason someone else’s opinion on you should change your opinion on you.
But let’s face it…you’re going to be hated. Jesus even says this, several times!
In John 15:18-19, Jesus tells his disciples this: “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.’ (John 15:18-19 NIV)
Because we are born again in Christ, we are no longer of the world but instead of Christ, and people hated Jesus—they killed him.
In Matthew 10:22, Jesus also tells his disciples, ‘You will be hated by everyone because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.’ (Matthew 10:22 NIV)
Again, because we are of Christ, we will be hated by those who are not of Christ. And we must expect this because if we don’t, we will be shaken by the harsh realities of this world which are, well…harsh.
But let me tell you: even if everyone in the world hates you, there is one person who will never ever hate you.
In fact, he will do quite the opposite and just overwhelmingly love you with an everlasting love. (Jeremiah 31:3)
Well that’s all I have for today! Thanks for reading and I hope it was encouraging! You’re awesome!!
