I saw a pin on Pinterest the other day and it sparked some interest in me. It said this:

When God put a calling on your life, he already factored in your stupidity.

Sure, you can exchange ‘stupidity’ to ‘naivety’ or something nicer-sounding, but let’s face it: you’ve probably done some stupid things. I know I have—heck, I’ve done so many stupid things that I’m still confused about the calling God has put on my life. But like it says, he’s already factored in that stupidity.

But honestly, what might be stupidity, God sees as sin. And I don’t mean that as in, ‘every stupid thing you do is a sin,’ but rather, ‘God doesn’t call his kids stupid.’

He knows the world that we live in and he knows that we struggle to know right from wrong, and he gives us second chances after second chances after second chances. (However, that does not mean we can go around willy-nilly, throwing ourselves into sin because we know God will forgive us. That’s manipulation and taking advantage of his grace.)

Now, I want to go back to that statement and talk about the calling part.

God has put a calling on your life—you might know what it is, you might not—but it’s there, trust me.

There’s a verse in Proverbs 19 that says this: ‘Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord ’s purpose that prevails.’ (Proverbs 19:21 NIV)

It’s not something that’s to say, “Your plans will never come true” but rather “God has a purpose for you that is far better than anything you could ever imagine.” It might not be a big plan or what you expected (or sometimes not even what you thought wanted), but if it’s from God then it’s gonna be good.

God’s got a great plan for you—and yes, he’s aware of your…naivety, but he’s not worried about that.
