When my fourteen year-old brother, my dad and I drove from Washington to North Carolina, that was the farthest I’d been from home. Not physically but emotionally. Especially when we were in the middle of the country because it felt as if I was stuck, as if I had part of a home in Washington and part of a home in North Carolina.
And all of my heart was hurting because of it.
I was torn between the two places I called home—one place that I had lived in and one place that had been familiar all my life.
Sort of caught in the crossfire of my emotions and reality, if you will.
And during those few weeks on the trip, while I was stuck in this in-between, I found a home in my people. My small group and church in Washington, friends and family in North Carolina, my best friend in Massachusetts, and friends on YDubs (which is the writing program that I use).
These people texted me words of encouragement, love, and prayer, even when I didn’t ask for it. And because of that, I am so so grateful to them!
Finding a sense of community in people is such an important thing to do. It doesn’t matter where you are—if they are meant for you then they will be there for you. And you can do the same for them!
So I highly recommend that you, wherever you may be, send a message of encouragement to a friend today! You might not know how much they need it. (:
Thanks for reading, friends! Have a great day!
