Wow y’all. August dragged on—in a good way—and it’s been relatively busy!

What did I do?

In my last post, it was a day or two before I flew out to Washington for church camp. (Read more about that here.) I had a blast getting to surprise my friends and seeing my small group and church after one whole month. (Shocking, I know.)

In Washington I got to celebrate one of my friend’s sweet sixteen with a Gilmore Girls-themed birthday party—and also stayed the week with her on the nights before and after camp.

And then I came home!

The week after I came home, I started my new job at Chick-fil-a which has been so fun! While I’ve been in training, I’ve made a handful of mistakes—such as using the milkshake lever instead of the ice cream one for a cup of ice cream…but we’re not gonna talk about that.

This is my last week of training, so next week I shall be a full-fledged employee. And will probably make many many more mistakes. But it’s okay! The work environment is really amazing and everyone is super welcoming and I’ve already made a handful of friends!

Related to that, I’ve started working out because y’all, working at CFA might not seem like a physical job, but it actually really is. (The giant buckets of sweet tea mock my weak arms.) Also, the idea of being more jacked than my brother sounds really nice.

I started school as well, which has been going fine. It’s school, but I’ve been glad to have something to do.

I’ve also helped an acquaintance plan a date for one of my close friends from WA—that’s probably been the highlight of my month!

I also got to watchβ€”onlineβ€”four friends get baptized! That was honestly the highlight of my YEAR. One of my friends got baptized by her brother and the things he said about her made me bawl like a babyβ€”I am so happy, it’s been a long journey but she took this huge, brave step and I’m so proud of her!

Other than that, I haven’t done much.

Here’s some pictures for today’s recap post:

What did I read?

Well, I haven’t read much. I finally finished Snowglobe, which I mentioned in my last recap post. Aaaaaand it took me a while because I forced myself to read it. So that’s that.

But Willow, you say, surely you’ve read other books during this whole month?!

Sure…I’ve been reading my Bible???

Yeah, my reading has been pretty nonexistent lately.

Moving on.

What did I listen to?

I do have an answer to this question! I’ve found a bunch of really good songs this past month, and so here’s what I’ve been playing on repeat!

  1. Jubilee by Maverick City Music
  2. Center by Bethel Music feat. Abbie Gamboa (the lyrics are my new goal)
  3. No One Like The Lord by Bethel Music feat. Jenn Johnson (this is my number one song right now)
  4. oh to be loved by JVKE
  5. Holidaze by Lecrae fear Jon Bellion
  6. Rest by Dean Lewis feat Sasha Alex Sloan
  7. Blame The Moon by Hazlett

Yup. That’s all I got. Once again—moving on.

What did I write?

So obviously I’ve been writing on here. (That’s no surprise.)

I’ve also been writing a devotional piece for an anthology with other teens—including Shiloh at Shiloh Noelle||Author and Editor—and you’ll be hearing more about that in a month or two! That’s all I’m going to say about that, but I’m super stoked to be getting published again!!

And really that’s it! I’ve kind of put a pause on my WIP (The Devil’s Demand) and been focusing on my nonfiction writing, the anthology, and my blog for now, but I’m hoping in September I’ll have more time to start that back up!

I’m also trying to reach out to more authors for author interviews—so if you have suggestions, please tell me and I’d love to do my best to contact them!

What happens next?

Well, like I said, I get out of training at work which I’m super excited for!

Also: fall season. That’s what’s happening next. And if you know me well, then you know what that means:

SWEATER, FLANNEL AND BEANIE SEASON!!!!! (I don’t have a favorite flannel…or beanie…)

Funny story: at camp we did skits, and most of the time girls dress up to play guys for the skits. (Purely by choice. And yes, yours truly did indeed dress up as a boy. From now on, you can call me Cody the Cowboy, sweeping girls off their feet. And yes. I do have a video of me sweeping girls (aka, my small group) off their feet in our skit.)

Anyways: at youth group I was known for wearing flannels, baggy jeans, and my beanie (as seen in the photos above). And for the skits, I had about five different girls ask, “WILLOW. Can I borrow a flannel and your beanie?”

Y’all, it was the middle of August and 80-something degrees—no I did not bring either of those things. And everybody was shocked and very disappointed in me. Next time, y’all, next time I will bring an assortment of flannels and my beanie.

Aaaaaaaand that’s it.

Welp, thanks for reading! This month has been busy but also not busy.

What have you guys been up to this month? Tell me in the comments—I’d love to hear!
