A few months ago I read a book called Nine Lives and Counting by Duane “Dog” Chapman, a bounty hunter. He writes about his redemption story and how he found Christ.

In this book, there was a paragraph that stuck out to me.

“In the Bible you will find dozens of men and women who committed every kind of sin. Noah was an alcoholic. David was an adulterer and accessory to murder. Rahab (David’s great-great-great grandmother) was a prostitute. Zacchaeus was a corrupt tax collector. The apostle Paul (aka Saul of Tasus) was a brutal persecutor of Christians. Peter betrayed (denied) Jesus…and the list goes on. But their sins didn’t disqualify them.” (Nine Lives and Counting by Duane “Dog” Chapman.)

You may have thought, “I’ve made so many mistakes, nobody could ever forgive me.”

And that, friend, is where you are wrong.

You will never be able to ruin God’s love for you, never be able to cancel it out, never be able to do anything so bad—murder, addiction, adultery, kidnapping–that God will stop loving you.

You don’t have that much power, as much as we love to think!

Even when your family, friends, and peers have abandoned you or stopped loving you, your Father in heaven will never stop loving you.

In the Bible there are dozens—no, hundreds—of people who were a part of God’s plan, despite all their flaws.

And you are as well. It’s not the flaws that God is looking at, but simply just you.

‘But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
1 Samuel 16:7 NIV
