(The title sounds worse than it actually is, I promise!)

Have you ever heard the analogy of the boiling frog?

According to Wikipedia, “The boiling frog is an apologue describing a frog being slowly boiled alive. The premise is that if a frog is put suddenly into boiling water, it will jump out, but if the frog is put in tepid water which is then brought to a boil slowly, it will not perceive the danger and will be cooked to death.” (Wikipedia page: Boiling Frog.)

This analogy is applicable to our lives. When we are stuck doing something (typically something not good), we slowly begin to boil without realizing it. We don’t “perceive the danger and will be cooked to death.”

Whether that be pornography, profanity, greed, pride, alcohol, envy, or any other sins that you can easily be addicted to, it will slowly boil you alive unless you do something about it.

This often happens with profanity: with the mindset of “If I just read one book” or “If I listen to just one song” then it won’t matter, it won’t impact you. But then that one thing becomes two times, and then three, and then four, and then on and on til it’s a habit.

Even if your door is almost closed all the way, you are still allowing a little crack for something to slip through.

‘…[D]o not give the devil a foothold.’
Ephesians 4:27 NIV

So be wise with what you choose to say “Just one” to. Thanks for reading!

Hi Willow. Your post is so true. Especially, “Even if your door is almost closed all the way, you are still allowing a little crack for something to slip through.” You are correct in that a lot of the sins you mention, as well as any other sins, easily tempt us when we don’t slam the door shut when we allow them to first get our attention. As Paul said in Galatians 6:7, we reap what we sow. If we don’t slam the door shut but leave it open just a little, we could soon find ourselves opening the door completely, laying down the red carpet, and telling sin, “Welcome. Please come in and make yourself at home.” Before we know it, sin is again our master.

        Ooh, yayyy!!!

I’ve actually been thinking about hosting competitions myself (it would involve writing or art somehow, maybe music, too?), but I’m still trying to decide and figure how that would work XD

Any tips? I know this should be simple, but idk, I’m kinda stuck.

Ooh that’d be fun!! I’d totally participate XD

Honestly any of those sound so fun and they appeal to a lot of your readers I feel like (from what I’ve seen)!

And honestly it’s just a lot of trial and errorβ€”I’m still working out kinks in my comps lolπŸ˜‚

            Excellent…

*Evil laugh because she’s already recruited a participant before the competitions even become a thing*

            Lol, I’m being weird.

Anyway! I’m glad to know those topics don’t just seem like decent ideas to me! And yeah, I think so too. Everyone either writes, draws or makes music! Very creative crew, tbh.

Sometimes I forget “Trial and Error” requires error XDD Really? They seem pretty good to me already!
