(Wow, we’re at week 20 already? That’s crazy! Time is flying by so fast, y’all, I can’t keep up.)
Have you ever been weak?
For the record–and this is how much I like you guys if I’m sharing this story–I am weak. Physically, I mean.
Now, if you read this post about how I would ‘work out’ (use air quotes dramatically in your brain) to get abs, then you know that I did the wrong exercises for abs. Arms? Yes. Abs? Umm…hard no.
Well, I’m sharing another lovely and embarrassing story: a few months ago, before my mission trip, I was like, “Hey, maybe I’ll start working out and stretching so I’m in good shape for doing hard labor.”
So one night, I told myself, “I’ll do the workout I did when I was younger–it wasn’t actually bad and it was pretty easy!”
Well who knew that workout had actually helped me when I was younger, because I could barely make it to five pushups now. FIVE. PUSHUPS.
(I may or may not have I quit that workout…I decided that the mission trip would just have to survive without my nonexistent six-pack.)
But anyways, to be serious. I felt weak.
Sometimes, I don’t even feel weak physically, but spiritually or mentally. Like I can’t handle what’s going on but everyone else can.
Well guess what?!
Your worth is not determined by how much you can or can’t bear.
Whether you are a Dwayne the Rock Johnson look alike or more like Captain America (before he took the serum), you are still freaking awesome!
- God loves you even if you aren’t strong.
- Your family and friends love you even if you aren’t strong.
- And you should love you even if you aren’t strong. Wonder why?
Because often the weakest–or least strong–people are the ones who actually are the strongest. (At least emotionally.)
They’ve gone through all the crap that life will toss their way and they make their way through it, even if they cry every night and hate themselves. They still make it.
So next time you feel weak, just remember: your weakness doesn’t define you, you actually are crazy strong, and there are people to share the burden with you.
‘But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.”’
2 Chronicles 15:7 NIV
Have a great Sunday!
