I grew up in a Christian household. I’d say that I’ve always been a Christian, but in the last four-ish years I’ve really made the decision to follow Christ, not follow my parents’ faith.

So a few months ago, on February 23rd of 2025, I got baptized at my church which was a huge blessing.

What’s my point?

Well, since I’ve grown up in a Christian household, I’ve had a hard time with feeling stuck in my faith. Thoughts like, “Nothing’s new anymore” and “I’ve heard this before” and “Who is this faith for: my family or for me?” were often in my head.

Maybe, you’ve felt this as well.

Sometimes I’ve wondered, β€œWhat would it be like if I didn’t grow up in a Christian household? Would that make my faith more genuine, newer, more exciting?”

I’m not wishing I grew up in a different household. I’m really grateful and blessed that I did grow up in a Christian family! But it doesn’t stop me from the curiosity, right?

Often I find myself in a spiritual high, you know what I’m talking about? And then other times, I find myself in a spiritual low. (Some might even say I find myself in… hills and valleys. Hehehe.)

And let me just tell you, when you are in a spiritual high for a little while, and then you come back down to normal life, that spiritual low hits hard. And as I’ve grown up in a Christian household, I find myself feeling this way often, asking myself, “How can I make my faith new again?!”

Can you relate?

How do we get out of these spiritual lows, the spiritual boredom?

  1. Volunteer. This helps your mindset focus on helping others and sharing the goodness of God, which then improves your spiritual mindset.
  2. Fellowship. You’re going to stay in that same spiritual low if you do it by yourself. Plus, you’re not meant to do your faith by yourself!
  3. And Prayer. That one’s a bit obvious, but it connects to the second one. Prayer with others. Let them pray for you, you can pray for others, it’s a win-win. ;)

Let me know in the comments if you have any other ideas for jumping back up from that spiritual low!

Also, an extra thought: being in a spiritual low isn’t bad. Like, nobody is going to hate on you or shame you and you shouldn’t feel embarrassed or guilty for not doing great in your faith. But it is always good to have ways to rebound after that, you know? Like any fall, you gotta get up at some point. :)

Great post! I have had these “downs and lows” as you call them. I honestly think the reasons you said, and nature do the trick to bring you out of the lows. Well, that and family and close friends lol.

Also, you made a post about ‘Where Jesus Lives’ (I think), but it says ‘Page Bot Found’ when I click on it :/ Where’d it go?

(And I don’t wanna rush you, but when is the due-date for when you will reveal the winner for the Spring Poetry Competition?)

I figured out how you can read the post! :D You can’t like or comment, but if you go to your notifications (you know, that little bell on the top left corner of your screen that’s next to your reader setting and your gravatar), and search for it, I think you’ll find it. I just read it lol

      Thanks!

Yeah, I had scheduled it for the wrong day. It was published today instead of tomorrow so I just changed the date and I’m, but you’ll be able to read it tomorrow!

Yeah, good question: hopefully this weekend. The submissions are closed now (yesterday was the last day of them) so I just need to find time to sit and judge the poems.πŸ™ƒ

I agree!! Definitely surrounding yourself with other believers, getting into the Bible daily and asking God to show you new things!! It’s also definitely exciting when we know that God is working in our lives even if we can’t see it!!

    as always, great post!!✨
