The morning that I woke up the birds were brightly singing.
But something in me was off, a silence that was screaming.
Walking down the stairs, to find an empty kitchen.
Mom and Dad are gone, the clock was slowly ticking.
The whole world had gone quiet. The sun, it seems alone.
An empty street with no cars honking, this house is not a home.
~
When the world abandoned us, when they chose to leave,
That is when I realized: alone is not my dream.
Instead it is a nightmare, haunting every step.
The building slowly creaking, with no one hushing it.
Streetlights working uselessly for cars that will not come.
The smell of burning pastries, the bakery and an angry oven.
~
Driving alone on the streets, not caring to watch for cars.
Walk into a grocery store, lights flicker off and on.
When the world abandoned me, leaving me with my thoughts,
I turned to the one thing to provide me comfort, gamiliar and soft.
Trying to keep busy in an empty world.
Looking for someone–anyone—
To befriend this lonely girl.
~
Alone is not a problem, but loneliness is a curse.
Sometimes it feels like my bed should be a long dark hearse.
Lying in my silent world, hoping for some peace
But quietly feeling dead inside
My heart, no more one piece.
