First of all, I was reading Bino’s post A New Life which inspired this post, and I’ll explain that in a second.🙃

Parents are awesome. And one thing that is really highlighted in the Bible is how God is like a parent—he’s been said to have compassion like a mother (Psalm 103:8), love like a father (Psalm 103:13), and more.

And although having God as a parent or a Father is a huge blessing, some people don’t want to think of him as a Father.

I’ve had a various friends who don’t have great relationships with their parents, and because of that they are reluctant to accept the truth of having God as a loving parents.

So how do we accept God as a Father too?

First, I’d say meditate on the words that talk about his goodness for his children. Here are some good verses:

• John 1:12-13

• Galatians 4:4-7

• Colossians 3:12

• Romans 8:14-17

• Galatians 3:26-29

• 1 John 4:4

• Ephesians 1:4-6

And second, read the parable of the lost son, Luke 15:11-32.

The parable of the lost son is probably one of the most told parables and it’s one of my favorites: it’s a beautiful story of a man who has two sons—the younger son asks for his inheritance and runs away to spend it while the older son stays and help his father. When the younger son has spent all his money, he’s broke and miserable so he goes to his father to beg for forgiveness. But his father, after a long time without his son, rejoices, gives him a ring, a robe, and new sandals and orders that a party be held at his house! The older son gets mad because he’s been loyal and never gotten anything in return, but the father says, “But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.” (Luke‬ ‭15‬:‭32‬ ‭NIV‬‬)

God says that this is how everyone in heaven rejoices when someone decides to follow Jesus: “In the same way, there is joy in the presence of God’s angels when even one sinner repents.” (Luke‬ ‭15‬:‭10‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

Friend, God is so glad that you are here, and you have the choice to take the step and accept him to be your God, your Father.

Now you might be like, “What about Bino’s post?”

Well, at the end of Bino’s post A New Life, he had a picture of his older brother holding his new daughter (Bino’s niece). And (this might sound weird) but his brother was looking at his daughter with such awe and love, it blew me away to see all of that in just one picture. I mean, I don’t even know him, but I could tell that he had the love of being a father.

If you look at that picture, then put this image in your mind: God, looking down at little ole you, with such adoration and awe. He gets to Father you. And he says, “What a privilege.”

That is the image of a Father.
