How has a failure, or apparent failure, set you up for later success?

A handful of times, failure has seemed to take over and seems in control of my success.

Sometimes that’s relationships, school, my faith, and a variety of other things.

I can think of one failure that happened a few years ago that has kept me pretty successful afterwards.

I had a friend when I was around thirteen and we’ll call her Jenny. She and I were best friends, but we weren’t actually even good friends. She was kinda toxic and super possessive, and when I hung out with other girls she avoided me because she said I had ‘left her’ for the other girls. And then she’d do the same thing and say it was fine.

So, I was pretty miserable because of that and many other reasons. Our friendship wasn’t thriving, and there was this other girl (who I’ll call Violet) who was actually a good friend.

Well, eventually Jenny and I stopped being friends. I’m not actually sure how it happened, we just kinda stopped because I was super sick and tired of her running my friendships and life.

So I became friends with Violet. But the only reason I’m still friends with Violet is because I (1.) left Jenny, (2.) ignored what Jenny said about being her ‘best friend’, and (3.) decided that the hurt from the relationship with Jenny wasn’t worth it, even though it hurt to leave her.

But leaving that failed friendship was totally worth it because I made a better friend (Violet) who has been my friend for almost five years now.

You see, failure doesn’t mean forever. The pain that you will feel in the moment is practically nothing compared to the peace and joy you will feel later on after that failure.

Thanks for reading, and have a great day. :)
