I often feel like my negative feelings are a curse. They take over my mind and I become the equivalent of Elsa’s snow monster, Marshmallow.

But to handle those emotions I have to do a couple things:
- A hot hot hot hot hot shower. Hot showers seriously help me decompress and rethink life. Nobody can bother me while I’m in there anyways, so that’s a huge plus. And hey, the shampoo bottles are great listeners.
- Listen to music. Honestly, any music works for when I’m a hot mess. Sad, angry, confused, hurt, bored, dying, music works! I prefer listening to NF since his music is full of lovely negative emotions.
- Call a friend! Most of the time this doesn’t work since my friend who I typically would call is pretty busy, but I’ll leave her a Marco Polo if I’m bawling or something dramatic.
- Write. I write pretty well when I’m upset in some way. Often those emotions come out in poems since poetry is full of vague confusing thoughts, just like my emotions!
But, like the title says, negative feelings aren’t a curse!
A lot of Christians believe or say that being angry or having those kinds of emotions is a sin. And that is not true!
In fact, having these kinds of feelings is good and completely natural. But we shouldn’t let them overcome and take over us.
So, using certain ways to figure out how you’re feeling, why you’re feeling them, and what you can do to express those emotions is really good.
Thanks for reading, and have a great day!
