Not sure if this is going to be a controversial post or not, but here we go!

So. If you somehow didn’t know, I was born in 2008 and so I am considered Gen Z.

And that means that some people have biased opinions about me.

I’ve been told by adults, “Oh you’re such a screenager!” if I’m using my phone in public. Obviously they can’t see what I’m doing on my phone. On one certain occasion, I was either scrolling Instagram, or I was checking on a friend who had told me that they were cutting themselves.

Guess which one I was doing?

I don’t even have social media, not that they would know. (Unless they somehow hacked into my very hackable phone…)

I’m not hating on those people for believing that I was scrolling on social media, as that is often when teens are doing when on their phone, but it really ticks me off that adults are constantly putting down people who were born from 1995 to 2012 because they were born into a world of screens.

And I’m not just referring to “screenagers.”

Many adults say that young adults and teenagers (Gen Z specifically) are intoxicating the world with their new things.

Well, guess what?

The adults who say these things now? People said the same things about them when they were teenagers.

Adults have been saying these things for years. Years.

It annoying and quite offensive: adults saying that teenagers are no good when they themselves were teenagers and had the same things said about them.

And get this—most of the adults who say, “You teenagers are always on your phones” are often on their own phones, scrolling on social media!

Phones affect teenagers and adults and children. It’s not just Gen Z.

Why does the world have to judge Gen Z because of the time they were born?

Y’all, Gen Z is not destroying the world. It’s strengthening it.

If you watched Gather25 (the North America part) you saw stories of how Gen Z is changing the world with their faith. (I also recommend watching the Gather25 video of Malaysian where they have Gen Z pastors talk about Gen Z’s impact on the world.)

Gen Z is searching for hope. And when they find it in Christ, they rise and change the world, reaching fellow teens and young adults, and stunning others!

God is a God of generations.

Don’t give up on Gen Z yet, adults. We’re going to change your minds about us yet.😉
