I recently heard a song by Leanna Crawford (check her out, her voice is beautiful and her music is amazing!) called For Heaven’s Sake.

The lyrics are so good, and I feel like they really apply to everybody, Christian or not, and they really need to be heard, especially in this time and age!

Two of the verses say this (I cut out the chorus but you should listen to it):

Have we lost all our hope in each other

Have we forgotten we’re sisters and brothers

Can we be a little more like Jesus to one another

Can we give a little grace for Heaven’s sake

[Chorus]

Maybe we could learn to love if we’d stop hiding

Maybe we could learn to trust if we’d stop fighting

If we fall down on our knees we could finally start to see

That he loves us all the same for Heaven’s sake

[Chorus]

These lyrics talk about how as humans, we don’t love each other the way we were made to! Everybody, both Christian or non-Christian, adult or child, boy or girl, whatever status, we all hurt each other.

Habits take about 21 (some sources say 27) days to form. Well, this is a habit that has been happening since almost the beginning of time (Genesis 3). And for some reason, we don’t seem to want to break that habit.

But why? I mean, love is free to give.

Let me paint a picture for you:

If you have a pyramid of cups stacked on each other, and pour a giant pitcher of water on the top cup, it will overflow and fill up the other cups.

You see, the giant pitcher is God, and the water is His love. We are the top cup, and the cups beneath is are the people in our lives who we reach.

God fills us with love, and we can fill others with love, and they can fill others with love, and so on. It’s a never-ending cycle.

Like I said, love is free to give.

Hate just costs us ourselves.

God loves everyone, even if they don’t love him back. We need to stop fighting, saving face, keeping to ourselves, and start giving to others.
