You get some great, amazingly fantastic news. What’s the first thing you do?

Ok, so after inwardly screaming, the first thing I would do if I got some great, amazingly fantastic news would be to tell my best friend. She’s always the first one I tell when something exciting happens. Then, I tell my small group at church, whether I text them or wait a couple days (unless I get news on Tuesday) and tell them in person.

And then I’d tell all my other people, including my other friends and family and pastor and so on.

Well, my response made me realize this…

When I have GREAT, AMAZINGLY FANTASTIC news, I tell people. I’m not going to keep it to myself because that would honestly be a super dumb idea (unless it’s something embarrassing I guess).

Well that’s what Jesus wants us to do with the Gospel! If you know the story of the Gospel and accept it, you know that’s some great, amazingly fantastic news right there.

But we so rarely tell people about the Gospel like we would tell someone that we just got a new phone or are going to Hawaii or meeting some famous person.

Why? Well, for me, I don’t have many friends in person who aren’t Christian, but when I did a few years ago, did I tell them about Christ? Nope. Again, why?

I think, at least for me, I’m scared. You know, too scared to share the Gospel with someone and end up losing their friendship or being hated on of all sorts of weird stuff even though I know that’s some great none of the people I know would do that.

How can we learn not to be afraid? In Romans we read that Paul is not ashamed of the Gospel—and why would he be?—because it’s the power of love and life.

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭1‬:‭16‬ ‭NIV‬‬

This is how we should be. Unashamed. (The rapper Lecrae has a good book called Unashamed. Check it out.)

In fact, one of our duties as Christians is to share the love of God, the Gospel, with others.

“He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭16‬:‭15‬ ‭NIV‬‬

One step I’m taking to learn how to share the Gospel with strangers is going on that mission trip to Swanannoah North Carolina I told y’all about. We’re going to be sharing the Gospel with people and I’m hoping to learn a lot.

So that’s all I got!

Tell people your good news, and tell people the Good News.

Thanks for reading! Have a great day.
