How many of us have had to grieve? Well, if you are completely human, you’ve probably grieved before. And for that, I’m sorry.
Grieving is a natural part of life, whether it’s grieving a loved one, grieving childhood, grieving memories, or more. But when we mourn on a regular basis without learning to move on, we also lose the chance to grow from that grief.
Now, of course, growing from your grief doesn’t mean forgetting about that grief or not caring about it anymore. It means that you learn from that grieving season, you learn what God is teaching you about grief, you can learn to help others in their grief, and more.
You see, in Ecclesiastes, it says there is a time for everything. Everything. Check out these verses:
“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.”
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 NIV
Y’all, this verse is crazy. It tells us that when the time to grieve comes, we must grieve! Even if it’s hard, it is necessary. If you never grieve, you will never grow.
Look at it like this: if you plant a seed, that seed will have to die for the plant to grow. There will never be growth if you never take the time and chance to grieve.
It’s weird to think of grieving as a part of keeping ourselves healthy, right?
Well, if we resist, if we try too hard, we will shatter under the pressure of change instead of growing from the pressure.
Another thought: when you exercise, your muscles get sore, right? Why is that? It’s because they are literally tearing, stretched and growing from the exercise and pressure.
In the same way your muscles do, our mind and soul will grow from pressure.
How can you take the time to grieve and grow from that season?
Thanks for reading!
