Hey y’all! So last night, a friend of mine from youth group invited our small group to this even at another church. (I was the only one who could go so she and I went together.)
The event was at newlife church and it was a united night, so all their youth campuses came to one location and hung out, ate food, worshipped, and had a message.
(Now, I don’t know about y’all, but teenagers are freakin’ scary. Like, you see ‘em once, and they’re terrifying, laughing and running around and talking and they all know each other. But they were nice and I saw a couple people I recognized from school and stuff.)
Well, a couple awesome things happened last night. First off, I saw a boy (*gasp!*) who looked like the singer bodie but without white hair, pierced ears or tattoos. (Just a random thought I wanted to include.) Here’s a picture of bodie for reference:

Anywho. Back to the good spiritual stuff. The best part of the night was worship.
So, when they did worship, everybody got up from their seats and went down to the stage and stood down there.
Now, obviously worship is worship, no matter how good (or bad) the worship team is. But when the worship team is phenomenal…well, let’s just say that it makes the worship a lot better. 😅
Anyway, the worship team here at newlife was so good. But it wasn’t the worship team’s talent that made the experience incredible. It was the people and their enjoyment and enthusiasm and love for worship.
At other youth groups I’ve been to, there are a handful of people who raise their hands and worship proudly, but at newlife? Everyone did. There were a couple groups of people who had their arms around each other, swaying, and singing their hearts out, raising their hands.
Now, not to sound like a stalker or anything, but even the teenage guys were doing this, which was really sweet to watch since none of the guys at my youth group do this! So it was pretty incredible to watch the jocks and the nerds and the band kids drop those labels and come together under one God.
So, like I said, this was a united night of all newlife’s campuses, but it was just a regular youth group night. It wasn’t church camp, it wasn’t a worship night, it wasn’t a special event, it was just youth group.
I was like, “Woah. This is regular youth group?? They do this every week??”
It felt like I’d come to youth group as a first-time Christian because it was so different than other youth groups I’d been to!
I was so stunned by what I had been missing out on! I’ll be going to this youth group as well from now on which I’m super stoked about!
It was seriously amazing to see that the church really does have hope with bringing and keeping Gen Z in the church.
Thanks for reading and have a great weekend!
