[Just a note I thought I’d add: I’m not suicidal. I thought I’d address suicide in this poem, but just to let y’all know, I’m all good!]
The depression
HITS
Like a
Punch
To the stomach
And you don’t know how to
Flip the switch
Off
Then the suicidal thoughts
They all come running
And you wish that you could
Make it all
Stop.
~
You can’t fix it
It’s like a bad habit
It starts and it tries to kill you
But what if there was a way
To make it stop
Instead of just watching the clock
Tick
and
tock
~
All these dark thoughts
In my mind
I can’t get them to
shut up
Half the time
I know there are such things
As happy times
But I can’t remember when I last
Had
mine
Where are you, memories of fireflies?
What about birthday parties and movie nights?
I need help recalling that I don’t always
Cry
But sometimes that’s all I can do
It’s just like:
I wanna feel happy
And not like crap
When I tell my people
They all just laugh
Like, “Where’s the popcorn? This is a good show.”
They all think I’m joking but
They
don’t
know.
