Y’all, I was on YouTube the other day and saw a short on Brandon Lake’s channel…he and Jelly Roll are doing a collab on Hard-fought Hallelujah!

Dude I was so taken aback because they are very different artists, genre-wise. I mean, Brandon Lake is a Christian singer and worship leader, while Jelly Roll is a country singer who sings about some not-so-“Christian” stuff.

Personally, I’m so stoked about this! I watched another video that came out a few days later about the collab, and Jelly Roll talked about how that song impacted him in a way that no other worship song had in a very long time. He and Brandon are both very sincere, genuine guys, and their voices together—oh my gosh it’s gonna be awesome!!

Now, with this new collab comes a lot of judgement from other people, specifically Christians. Many Christians say that Brandon Lake is stooping to an “unholy level” and his music will just go south from here. Or that, Jelly Roll is “too secular to have on a Christian song.” And even that it “won’t be a worship song” with Jelly singing in it!

If our brothers and sisters in Christ are hating on this collab, where Brandon could expose Jelly to the love of God, where is the love of God in our brothers and sisters?

While I agree that Jelly Roll’s music isn’t in line with God’s word, I do believe that this song could provide an amazing and beautiful experience for Christians and non-Christians alike!

In Luke 5, Jesus says this: “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.” (Luke‬ ‭5‬:‭31‬ ‭NIV‬‬)

We are the sick, Brandon Lake is the sick, Jelly Roll is the sick, non-Christians are the sick, everyone on earth is sick. So why withhold the love of God? Why not help with the love and compassion of God?
