So let’s get started!

Today I’m writing about timing.

Now, a handful of verses in the Bible say something along the lines of, “Trust God’s timing.” Even God says, “Trust my timing.”

(1 Peter 5:6, Acts 1:7, Ecclesiastes 3:1-11, 2 Peter 3:9, Psalm 27:14, 1 Timothy 6:14-15)

But that gets kind of old, right? And when it’s apparently not that time, you always wonder, “WHEN WILL IT BE THAT TIME???”

We start to get impatient.

So how can we learn to trust God’s timing?

Well, for one, look back on your life when you wanted something to happen, and then think of when it happened.

Here’s an example I came up with on the spot:

I want to read a book that supposedly has some dark, gruesome scenes, but I’m pretty sure that I am mature enough to read it.

A little over a year later, I read that book and woah there are some gruesome scenes that my, say, 12 year old self couldn’t have handled.

It was good timing, right? If I’d read that book when I wanted to, it would have probably scared the crap out of me and I wouldn’t have slept soundly for a few nights.

It’s similar with trusting God’s timing. He sees everything, knows everything, and hears everything. He knows what’s going to happen in your life that you might be able to handle in a little while, but not at the moment.

Jeremiah 29:11 says: “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans for a hope and a future.’” (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV)

What stands out to me is this: ‘For I know the plans,’ declares the Lord.”

He knows them. He didn’t just make them, but he knows them by heart, he knows what he’s going to do and let happen, and he knows that it’s going to be just what you need.

He has every single teeny tiny itty bitty detail safely in place just for YOU.
