Y’all! It’s 2025! How crazy is that?!

So recently I did a New Year’s poetry competition which was awesome! Thank y’all for participating. 🙃

In the end, after receiving the submissions, I changed my mind about the rule for including the word kerfuffle because none of the submissions included them. Which is okay! (But please be sure to read the rules completely before submitting since I’ve had this happen many times now.)

But, here are the winners of the competition! Drumroll please….

A.R. Rainey and Ruby Miner!

A.R. Rainey’s poem was my favorite poem, and it was a very sweet one to her brother, titled My Promise. You can also check out a post I made, including a poem she wrote here.

My Promise by A.R. Rainey

A new year is approaching -A new dawn, a new day –

And there are, as there always are,

Promises to make.

I promise that I’ll stand beside you

Through chaos and through strife.

I promise that I’ll hold you close

Through the darkest night.

I promise that I’ll do my best

To write the world anew.

I promise that I’ll spin a tale

That someday comes to you –

I promise that I’ll love you still

When I take my newfound path

Into the world, away from home,

Facing Earth’s cruel wrath.

I promise that I’ll make for you

A world for you to love.

I promise that I’ll show to you

The Peace in gentle dove.

And so, my brother, go to sleep –

Enjoy whatever fantasies do

Play inside your toddler dreams –

While you rest, I’ll write them alive for you.

Now, for the poem with the best resolutions: Ruby Miner’s poem, titled I Resolve. What she writes about is definitely something I could work on this year. 🙃

I Resolve by Ruby Miner

I resolve

To be a

Better person

Than I was

Last year

I resolve

To be a

More cheerful

Person than

I was

Last year

And I resolve

To be more

Kind and

Honest and

Truthful and

Loving

This year

Great job you two!! I loved reading y’all’s poems. ❤️ I hope you both have a great New Year. 🙃

Thanks for reading and I hope that everyone’s New Year brings hope, wisdom, and peace.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”
