Hey y’all! I hope you guys have a blessed and merry Christmas! This year I’m celebrating with my dad’s side of the family, something we haven’t done in a long time due to moving.

I cannot believe it’s almost 2025. How crazy is that?! It feels like yesterday I was celebrating 2024. (I can’t remember what I did for New Years’s 2024. I just know that it feels really recent.😅)

Well, this year I learned some really important things about this holiday we so excitedly celebrate:

1. It’s a season for family and friends. We celebrate Jesus coming into the world, and He was welcomed by His mother and father, as well as many shepherds. It wasn’t a physically lonely time, but one of joy and celebration and people. Our King was born!
2. It’s a season for compassion. Jesus was born poor and in a barn filled with poop, animals, hay, gross stuff, stink, and lots of other stuff that any baby shouldn’t be born in, much less the King of the Universe. It’s a good time to reflect on how He relates to those who are poor in spirit.
3. It’s a a season for love. Christmas is typically described as the “joyful” season, and while that’s true, it’s also a holiday about love. We celebrate the day Love came into earth in its human form.
4. It’s a season for repentance. As we celebrate, we should take the time to realize that if Jesus hadn’t come down, we wouldn’t have this. If it wasn’t for Him, we wouldn’t have anything worth living for, much less gifts, food, decorations, and Christmas spirit. It’s a good time to ask for forgiveness and reconciliation with God and with others.
5. And finally, it’s a season for joy! All throughout the Bible are spread verses and prophecies about the joy that was to come hand in hand with Jesus’s birth.

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.”
