So this post might seem a bit interesting. If it’s not clear (it’s a bit vague, I’ll admit😅) it’s a letter from a miscarried child to their mother. I’ve known a lot of people and friends who have miscarried, and thought it might be an interesting and bittersweet writing snippet.
As for the name “sparrow,” I knew someone who had a miscarriage and called their baby “sparrow.”
And one last thing before you read my snippet.😅 It might be a bit weird in the way I wrote this. I wrote it as the child reassuring its mother. Some women I’ve known felt guilty about their child passing away before birth, and so I wrote it from that standpoint, with the baby saying, “It’s okay. I’m safe. You didn’t do anything wrong.”
Thanks for reading and I hope this snippet isn’t insensitive.🙃

Dear Mama,
I am safe. I thought you should know that. Papa is keeping me safe up here, don’t worry. Papa saved me. He rescued me from a human life of pain, from the fear, from the death I deserved, and He took me home.
I knew you. The sound of your voice, your heart pumping, your laugh, it was all you. I heard it because I was connected to you. I was your blood. Your life. Your baby.
I felt it. When you found out that I was in you, I could feel it. Your heart pounded. Your breath quickened. Your voice was shaky from excitement and joy.
Don’t worry. It didn’t hurt, I wasn’t in pain when I left. It was as if I was sleeping, and then flying up to heaven like a sparrow. The sparrow you named me for.
It wasn’t your fault that I left. I’m still not sure why or how I left, but Papa called me home and I knew that I should follow him. You might be wondering why I had to leave before we even met. You’ll figure that out. Papa will send a message to you. He comes through. He always does.
I’m sorry. When I left, I didn’t want you hurting because you lost me. But Papa told me that you were. But don’t worry. He carefully took your baby for you, and greeted me in heaven with a hug, a kiss, and a “Welcome home, child.”
I love you. If you ever receive this, please remember me. I was your child even if you never met me in person. But I’m safe now. So there’s no need to worry.
I love you. When I see you, we can have a reunion like no other. Get to know each other again.
Love,
Sparrow
