So for my fellow American friends, today is Thanksgiving! And I’m gonna share a couple things with y’all!
So. Number one. The Bible tells us, allllll throughout time, that we are to give thanks! When we don’t, we become ungrateful and envelope ourselves in sinful, unsatisfied ways. (Read Romans 1:21-32) In the very beginning, the source of sin was from being ungrateful. Adam and Eve weren’t satisfied with all the good food and blessings that they had, and so they resorted to something “better.”
Number two. Giving thanks gives you a better perspective. Often, when I’m having a sucky day, I rant and rant and rant to myself. (Or my bestie.) And does it help? Well, it feels like it, but it honestly makes me angrier and even more unsatisfied. So when you give thanks? You find a better perspective to change your whole mind, and even day! (More on that in this post.)
Number three. It’s another chance to be reminded about God’s goodness. He gave us his Son, love, grace, help, and hope. We should be grateful to even have a reason to be thankful. Because without God, there would be no reason.
And number four. Thanksgiving is a day of FOOD. Lots of food. And typically, this food is what we’re so grateful for, right? But in 1 Thessalonians, Paul says that we should give thanks in all circumstances. Even when we’re not having tons of awesome food. (Read 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)
So yeah. That’s all I got! Just a short post for Thanksgiving. I hope you guys all have an awesome Thanksgiving! And comment on your favorite Thanksgiving food! :P
(As a postscript, I’ll be posting the winners of the Christmas snippet competition on Sunday, so keep your eye out!)
