In 2017, in Cairo Egypt on Palm Sunday, two bombs exploded. One was inside St. George’s Church and the other was outside of St. Mark’s church. Fifty people were killed, and over 100 were injured. That evening, St. Mark’s was packed. Not one corner was empty. This was not typical, but that evening after the bombing, it was totally different.

A man named Father Boules George spoke that evening to the whole church, to the world, and to the bombers. He made a three point message, titled “A Message to Those Who Kill Us,” addressed to the bombers, and it wasn’t cliche. His three points were

1. Thank you.
2. We love you.
3. We are praying for you.

This man blowed everyone’s minds away. And his message was not only mind-blowing to the people in the church with him, but the whole world. Even today, it’s changing lives and hearts.

Father Boules George said, “Thank you,” because those Christians in the church got to die the way that Jesus told us we would live. (John 15:18-27, John 16:1-3.)

He said, “Thank you,” because those Christians in the church were able to join Christ sooner.

He said, “Thank you,” because those Christians died the same way Christ died, killed by their enemies, given the most honorable death they could ask for as a Christian.

Father Boules George said, “We love you,” because Christ loved him, so he would love others. (Matthew 5:43-44, 1 John 4:19)

He said, “We love you,” because Christians don’t have enemies, even if people make enmity with us. (Matthew 5)

He said, “We love you,” because even drug dealers like each other, so what makes Christians different if they only love Christians? No, Christians love all the people. (Matthew 5:44-46)

Father Boules George said, “We are praying for you,” because Jesus said to bless those who curse us and to pray for those who persecute you. (Matthew 5:44)

He said, “We are praying for you,” because the bombers needed to know the love of God. If they had just a taste of the love of God, it would change their life.

He said, “We are praying for you,” because their eyes need to be opened, need to see God’s goodness. Because if they knew Him, they would never do this.

Father Boules’ message was something so different from how he should have responded to the bombings, and that made a radical change to many people’s hearts.
