Okay, so this technically is for my Monday post but I’ve been lazy and distracted…So it’s on Friday, but for Monday.

Psalm 150 is the last chapter/Psalm in the book of Psalms. Here is what is says:

¹ Praise the Lord.

Praise God in his sanctuary;
    praise him in his mighty heavens.
² Praise him for his acts of power;
    praise him for his surpassing greatness.
³ Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet,
    praise him with the harp and lyre,
⁴ praise him with timbrel and dancing,
    praise him with the strings and pipe,
⁵ praise him with the clash of cymbals,
    praise him with resounding cymbals.

⁶ Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.

Praise the Lord.

Psalm 150:1-6 NIV.

Psalm 150 is all about singing praise to God, and not only that, but it is what finishes the whole book of Psalms. That shows a couple things:
1. That’s a lot of Psalms. One hundred and fifty. And some of those Psalms are long.
2. The psalter is concluding the book by praising God. He completes it by saying, “Everything that has breathe praise the Lord. Praise the Lord.” That’s a fantastic way to finish the book, like, what a happy ending!
3. Almost every Psalm (maybe even all of the Psalms, I haven’t read all of them, but I’m almost there) conclude the chapter/Psalm with some kind of praise. Whether it’s saying, “Blessed are all who take refuge in him,” (Psalm 2:12 NIV) or “Be exalted in your strength, Lord; we will sing and praise your might,” (Psalm 21:13 NIV) or “Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me,” (Psalm 66:20 NIV), they most likely say something that refers to God’s might, compassion, or love.

Something that is also fascinating and awesome is when the psalter is crying out for God, asking and pleading for Him to hear them. Even if they start off with something like, “God, why do you not hear my cries? I need help, do not withhold from me!”, they finish the plea with a praise or thank-you.

Psalms is probably my favorite book of the Bible because it has something for every occasion/feeling/experience, and I love that. It often feels like the author knows what everybody else is feeling.

Anyway, what I was saying is that the psalter has everything for everyone, and by constantly praising God, they show that there is someone to trust.

Psalm 150 ends, (like many of the Psalms) in praise. We should do the same. After every heartbreak, loss, injury, hurt, and more, we should finish our prayers or cries by praising God. He deserves that kind of gratitude.
