What To Not Do On Valentine’s Day:
A Very Comprehensive and Random Snippet
Well, it’s me again. Oh, you don’t know me? Welp, hello. My name is Coop. I’m a guy who was once so desperate for a girl that I messed up big time… so bad, I was practically the Valentine’s monster… Now, together with my girlfriend cuz I finally—after five years of learning—got Valentine’s right, and got a girl… Clearly, I know what I’m doing, and will now teach you to know what you’re doing, too.
Well, I started out, on that fateful Valentine’s day, by spending two hours finding my outfit. I’d forgotten the day before to clean my sweater, and it was dirty. I decided to finally settle with a green sweater, because my blue one was in the hamper.
Then I forgot breakfast, so the rest of the day was spent in bitter fasting so that I could eat a big dinner.
I pulled up to her house and smiled to see her walk out in her adorable outfit. I stepped out of the car, shut the door behind, and walked around the car. So focused on looking cool and rizzy, I walked all the way around the car, and opened the driver’s door instead.
However, she smiled at my embarrassing moment of realization and shrugged it off to pull open her own door. Oh I was so ashamed.
My girlfriend, however, was a very understanding girl who only got angry if you REALLY messed up. I was praying on everything I had that I wouldn’t make her mad.
I started the car and we started to talk. Small talk, obviously. I might’ve spoken a little too small because she repeatedly asked me to speak louder. Oh well, anything for the girl.
“So, your sweater is cool,” she said nonchalantly.
“Why, thank you!” I beamed, keeping my eyes on the road.
“We won’t be matching, but that’s okay.” she continued. I glanced at her outfit. Pink. Huh. Why did she think we were gonna match? Pink looks horrible on me.
We arrived at our first destination, a flower garden. I stepped out of the car, offering her my hand. She took it gingerly and stepped out.
I let her walk ahead for a few steps, then I whispered to my personal assistance,“Hey, Siri, why does my girlfriend think I should wear pink on Valentines?”
Siri waited for a moment, calculating her answer.
“Maybe she thinks pink is a great color for Valentine’s Day! It’s often associated with love, affection, and all things sweet. Plus, it could be a fun way to show you care!” she said.
“Oh shoot,” I muttered. A fun way to show I care… “Hey Siri, why pink?” I continued.
“Pink is often seen as a color that represents love, affection, and warmth. It’s softer than red, but still connected to romantic feelings. Plus, it’s just a fun, festive choice for Valentine’s Day! Maybe she thinks it adds a sweet touch to the celebration.”
“Is, uh, pink associated with Valentine’s day?”
“Yes, pink is definitely considered a Valentine’s color! It’s often linked to love, romance, and sweetness. While red is the traditional color for love and passion, pink gives off a softer, more playful vibe, making it a popular choice for Valentine’s Day.”
I coughed and slipped my phone back in my pocket, jogging to catch up with my confused date.
Then I thought to look around. Where were the flowers? I pulled out my phone again. February 14. FEBRUARY?! There were no flowers yet! Oh why was I so stupid?
“It’s okay,” she said. “Are you hungry?”
“DYING!” I coughed, “Sorry, not really. Are you?”
She gave me a side glare before shrugging. “We can drop by a gas station and grab something really quick.”
“Oh THANK YOU! THANK YOU!” I cried, letting the joy replace my maturity as I jumped around.
She looked very annoyed when I remembered she was there.
I cleared my throat and offered her my arm.
“To the gas station?” she asked hesitantly.
“To the gas station.” I confirmed.
The drive there was short, and I ran in, leaving her to wait in the car.
When I came out, I dropped the chip bags and food on the dash. She reached for one, which reminded me that she needed food, too. I decided to just eat less instead of embarrassing myself and going in a second time.
By the end of the day, it was clear she was hanging on to the hope that dinner would be good.
I wasn’t hungry, but decided to go to McDonalds just for her.
She broke up with me five minutes later. She didn’t even order!
I guess I’ll never know why. But, I decided that I would try a different restaurant every time. They seemed to like Mods and Olive Garden. Weird way females work.
And that, my young boys, is what NOT TO DO on Valentines day, learn from my experience. Trust me on this one.
- Don’t forget to wear pink, just for her
- Don’t forget breakfast
- Don’t talk too quietly
- Don’t forget to open her door
- Don’t forget it’s February and flower gardens aren’t growing yet
- Don’t be so oblivious to what Valentine’s day actually is that you have to ask Siri
- Don’t forget to buy her snacks at the gas station
- Don’t take her to McDonalds
- Don’t be a bad boy, cuz I was…
